Education: B.A. Wilderness Leadership/Adventure Education & Writing/Literature, Prescott CollegeOriginally from: Michigan Been with Boojum since: Spring 2008 Chase grew up in rural Northern Michigan, in a community where parents sent their children outside to play almost as soon as they could walk. The public areas surrounding her hometown, which included forests, beaches, fields, sand dunes, and rivers, instilled in her the belief that nature is a powerful teacher. Even in her youth, Chase was passionate about helping to reconnect people to the environment. After leaving Northern Michigan, Chase eventually landed at Prescott College, where she studied Adventure Education, Wilderness Leadership, and Writing and Literature. Over the past five years, Chase has worked for a variety of outdoor/experiential programs and guide companies: in New York, Vermont, Michigan, New Hampshire, Arizona, Idaho, Washington and California. She currently splits most of her time between course directing for the Boojum Institute, and instructing for Outward Bound. Her favorite activities, for both teaching and personal recreation, include rock climbing, mountaineering, canoeing, and backcountry skiing. She is also a closet journalist, and outdoor pursuits and environmental issues remain her favorite writing topics.
